Softricity Case Study
Background:

Deploying and managing Windows application software in a large enterprise
is complex, tedious, and expensive. Softricity’s SoftGrid application
virtualization technology streamlines the entire process and uniquely addresses
this mission-critical challenge for IT managers. The Softricity team envisioned
how its patented technology could be applied to this important customer
need. Longworth co-led the company’s Series A funding to provide capital
and company-building experience to support its goals.
Laying the Groundwork for Success:
Building a successful software company is hard work. It’s simply
not enough to create a “better mousetrap.” In addition to having
strong, defensible technology, market-leading companies like Softricity
are able to identify and focus on solving a customer’s most urgent
problems. They hire world-class talent. They develop efficient sales and
distribution strategies. They establish key strategic partnerships to accelerate
growth. And they continually innovate to stay ahead of the competition.
These are the challenges that every technology company faces. The Longworth
team has successfully navigated these issues as operating executives and
lead investors and have been pleased to partner with Softricity in its growth.
“Longworth has been a true partner, working closely with us from the
very beginning to define and execute our strategy,” says Softricity
CEO Harry Ruda. “By sharing their expertise, making key personnel
and customer introductions, and helping us with our funding requirements,
we’ve
been able to capitalize on a significant market opportunity.”
Results:
Softricity recently announced year-over-year revenue growth of more than
300%. Strong demand in North America and Europe led to more than 50 new
customers including AIG, Mayo Clinic, Merrill Lynch, Prudential, and
Sanofi-Aventis. Meanwhile, industry analysts from Forrester, IDC, and
Yankee Group are highlighting the value of Softricity’s differentiated
solution to enterprise IT customers.
